If we don’t take time to spend time with the Lord, we let the weight of our days pile on. We forget about seeking peace.
Peace isn’t balance—peace is internal that transcends the external. Jesus gave a prime example of this in scripture (Matthew 8:23-27). Jesus had peace in who He was and who God called Him to be. The storm was still raging around Him, but He wasn’t worried.
Often we look at the things happening around us, just like those in the boat with Jesus did. We shift our focus from what we know to be true to what we can see.
If we focus on what is happening around us, we have removed our focus from the one who gives us complete peace. We are unable to find rest. Why? Because our minds are too busy deciding what we need to do next—we aren’t being led; we are trying to take the lead.
Continuing in this pattern will take you to the breaking point and beat you until you feel lost, abandoned, unwanted, and confused. After all, something has to break.
Now let’s look at this differently. What happens when we shift our focus and rely on our Good Shepard?
When you take time to talk with the Father, not just list out things you want, but a genuine relationship, our souls, begin to be restored. We aren’t so worried about what is happening around us because we know He is in control.
When He is in control, something breaks too, but it isn’t us! Instead, it is what is holding us back from the Father. Grievances break, pride breaks, addictions break, and true healing begins.
True rest and peace are only through a relationship with the Father.
If you feel stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, burned out, or unwanted—you need to stop what you are doing, get into the word, worship and pray. Let the Holy Spirit take control and lead you so the wrongs can be made right.
Hebrews 6:19—We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain.
When we spend time with the Father, He anchors us. The storm doesn’t always stop, but with God, we are safe; we just need to give Him control.
